Description Summary
The HR Specialist will oversee staffing policies, improve employee retention, and motivate staff through creating employee benefit initiatives. HR Specialist will ensure compliance with industry regulations, keep detailed records of job description, schedule interviews for job candidates and conduct onboarding and new employee orientation. They will field complaints / concerns from employees and use a structured system to respond to any issues within the organization. The HR Specialist will also manage benefits administration, update payroll, and communicate with staff about policy and policy updates. They will be dependable and can manage multiple tasks at once without being overwhelmed and will perform other related duties as needed and required.
Job Summary
Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities.
Create and maintain a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keep the strategy up to date.
Investigate employee issues, concerns and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to the Plant Management Team (PMT).
Ensure all company HR (Human Resources) policies are applied consistently.
Partner with PMT to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.
Maintain HR systems and processes.
Assist PMT with employee performance and salary reviews.
Provide support and guidance to PMT and employees.
Support the administration of the Safety Committee, chaired by designated PMT personnel.
Analyze trends in compensation and benefits.
Design and implement employee retention strategies.
Must adhere to all health and safety practices and procedures.
Must work to be an excellent teammate exhibiting a willingness to help/train co-workers as needed.
Must work with pace and efficiency without sacrificing quality.
Carries out any additional duties as assigned by the PMT.
Minimum requirements
Must be willing and able to utilize (or learn to utilize) computer based and mechanical equipment in the workplace.
Must work well within a team environment. Must be reliable and self-motivated.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Must be able to communicate effectively. The ability to speak both English and Spanish can help an employee advance in their profession.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be on time and ready to work each workday unless prior management arrangements have been made.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, organizational development, business, or related area is recommended but not required. Relevant work experience may be a substitute.
Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, safety, hiring and employee relations; ability to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment relations.
Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork.
Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning.
